Avoid sensitive issues, says sultan

LIVING IN UNITY: Ruler wants problems to be resolved through discussions.

JOHOR BARU: SULTAN Ibrahim Iskandar has reminded Johoreans to stop raising sensitive, religious and racial issues to ensurefor continued peace and harmony in the state.

Stressing the importance of living in unity, the Johor sultan said  that all problems needed to be resolved through discussions and proper channels.

This was based on the concept of “muafakat itu berkat’’ (consensus is a blessing).

In accordance with the state’s tradition, the ruler was accompanied by his sons, Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail, Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris, Tunku Laksamana Johor Tunku Abdul Jalil and Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman.

Sultan Ibrahim also expressed his gratitude that the state continued to prosper while his subjects continued to live in peace, harmony and prosperity.

“I would like to congratulate all representatives chosen by the public. This term also marks the era of a new menteri besar, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin. So, I hope all state assemblymen will give him their full support,” he said when opening the 13th state assembly sitting at the Sultan Ibrahim building in Bukit Timbalan here yesterday.
