KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia recorded 89 new Covid-19 cases today, raising the infection tally to 11,224.

According to the Health Ministry, three of the new cases are imported (all involving foreigners); while 86 are local infections comprising 84 Malaysians and two non-citizens.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also revealed that a new Covid-19 cluster has been detected in Kedah.

Meanwhile, the country registered two new Covid-19 fatalities (one each in Sabah and Kedah) over the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 136.

In a Twitter post, Dr Noor Hisham said 1,124 active cases are currently receiving treatment in hospital, 16 of whom are in intensive care – with three receiving respiratory assistance.

A total of 28 patients were declared cured and discharged from hospitals nationwide today.
