KUALA LUMPUR: The government is now focusing on Sabah following the surge in Covid-19 cases in the state.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said various assistance have been channeled to the state including financial aid, expanding healthcare necessities as well as providing more personnel, assets and roadblocks.

“With a wide demography and high population, Sabah requires the government to focus its efforts there to mitigate the spread of the infection and ensure the safety of the people,” he said in a Facebook livestream today.

Ismail Sabri, who is also the Senior Defence Minister, added that the government is also putting its focus on Sarawak as the state has a vast border and required a stern defence and security enforcement from any transboundary encroachment.

He said heightened security enforcement alone was not enough to stop the Covid-19 chain.

“All leaders (of the states) and community leaders should play their part in helping the government stop the infection chain and ensure the safety of our country,” he said.
