KUALA LUMPUR: Police nabbed 455 individuals for violating the standard operating procedures (SOP) under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said of the number, 427 were slapped with compounds, another 27 were remanded and one was released on bail.

“The offences include failure to practice physical distancing (206), engaging in activities at entertainment outlets (72), failure to wear face masks (63), failure to provide materials to record visitors’ details (59), travelling inter-district and inter-state concerning states under the Conditional Movement Control Order or CMCO without permission (21) and others (34),” he said in a statement today.

The arrests were made during 59,602 inspections conducted by the task force on SOP compliance at various public places yesterday.

“A total of 3,551 supermarkets; 5,069 restaurants and 1,862 hawker stalls; 1,182 factories; 3,361 banks and 509 government offices were inspected.

“The task force also inspected 1,112 land transport terminals, 249 marine terminals and 96 air terminals yesterday,” he said.

Meanwhile, 28 illegal immigrants and one smuggler were detained while three land vehicles were seized during the ongoing Ops Benteng yesterday.

“A total of 306 roadblocks were mounted by the armed forces (242), police (54) and the Malaysian Border Security Agency or Aksem (10).

“The government will take stern action against those who try to infiltrate our borders illegally and we will continue to tighten border control as well as plug ‘rat lanes’,” he said.

As for the sanitisation operations, he said 52 exercises were held at 12 red zones, four orange zones, 15 yellow zones and three green zones in 12 states up to Friday.

Since March 30, he said 11,703 sanitisation operations were carried out in 137 zones.

On quarantine measures, Ismail Sabri said 72,062 Malaysians returned from abroad between July 24 and yesterday (Friday).

“Of the total, 10,396 are undergoing mandatory quarantine, while 404 were sent to hospitals for treatment.

“A total of 61,262 individuals were discharged and allowed to return home.”

The returnees arrived from 36 countries.
